Associate Director, Research Administration

The Division of Contracts and Grants at the University of Florida seeks an experienced post-award administrator to serve as Associate Director of Research Administration and lead a large, highly competent grant accounting unit. The associate director leads a team of Grant Accountants with responsibility for more than $1 billion in funding. The successful candidate will possess expertise in post-award financial compliance and will champion continued innovation and process improvement. The associate director reports to the Assistant Vice President and Director for Contracts and Grants, regularly represents the division on post-award matters, and serves as acting director in the AVP’s absence. 
 
Opportunities and Expectations
Post-award administration: Works closely with unit team leads to ensure accuracy and timeliness of award set-up, monitoring, reporting, invoicing, collections and closeout; provides reports and metrics related to award management and financial compliance.
 
Process improvement: Liaises with UF Information Technology on ERP system enhancements, upgrades and support tickets; redesigns and reimagines complex financial processes to improve efficiency.
  
Interpersonal communication: Networks with federal and industry agency contacts, UF stakeholders, supporting offices, auditors, departmental contacts and other college administrators; plans and delivers training workshops and presentations to unit team members; acts as Director in the AVP’s absence; maintains effective, collaborative working relationships across the university community.
 
Teambuilding and leadership: Recruits, trains, and professionally develops grant accounting teams; designs resources and leads workshops for C&G team members and the wider university community; provides high-level strategic leadership to a motivated team of professionals.
