 Job Title: Sponsored Funding Administrator, Lead

Job Summary

The Lead Post Award Sponsored funding Administrator will work on a team to provide functional leadership on general or specialized post award support for the grants and contracts portfolio.  Functionally oversees processes of Post Award tasks to ensure compliances are met.  Meet established account management expectations, identify deviations, and resolve account management problems as guided by established procedures.  Serve as subject matter expert on research administration and compliance topics to the sponsor, Business Office, Faculty, and other University personnel in the fiscal management of grants and contracts.  Manage projects and made improvements to enhance the Post Award process and collaborate with the business offices on training and process updates.  Will train, mentor, and review the work of lower-level professionals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Account Management - Review/Approve data entry in the system to support setup, billing/collections and account management following established procedures and expectations.  Ensure accuracy and correct errors identified in data audits.  Understand business processes in the support of the daily management of grants and contracts and identify where process improvements are needed and make recommendations to improve processes.  Review/approve sponsor required fiscal and management reports and/or invoices as appropriate.  Meet established account management expectations, identify, and resolve account management problems as guided by established procedures.  Prioritize work in order to complete assignments on a timely basis.  Will serve as a mentor to newer staff in Post Award.  Provide ideas of process improvements on the assigned team as well as processes that cross other teams in SPS.  Will use increased knowledge of impacts grants management data has on reporting and compliance.
  • Post Award Outreach and Liaison -Serves as a subject matter expert for research administration and compliance.  Leads collaborations with Business Office staff, faculty, and other University personnel in the fiscal management of grants and contracts.  Work proactively to avoid problems and/or identify issues and work with others to resolve timely.  Assist other Post Award staff on issues that arise.  Provide guidance to business offices, PI's and others on complex grant questions to ensure compliance with the award terms and conditions, Uniform Guidance and Purdue Policies.  Provides guidance to and assists Post Award staff and business offices with cost share reconciliations.  Provide guidance to Pre-Award and Contracting with compliance of sponsored research as applicable.  Will mentor, coach, delegate work to, and review the work of lower level professionals.  Assist with training on Post Award processes and sponsor changes to Post Award, other SPS areas, business office and faculty as applicable.
  • Sponsor Liaison - Interpret and provide guidance to customers on Uniform Guidance, University and sponsor regulations to collectively work with the sponsors in meeting compliance requirements. Develop relationships with sponsor personnel while monitoring developments/changes within sponsoring agency.  Continuously monitor sponsor, federal or university policy changes and update resources in Post Award and other areas at the university as applicable.
  •  Other - Coordinate and/or assist with other activities, special projects, and reports.  Serve on and/or lead committee work.  Serve on NCURA Region IV committee.  Perform other duties as requested.

  • Six or more years of experience in research administration, business administration, accounting, or related experience

  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, database, data inquiry, Internet, etc.
