Hi Maggie,

 

We have a salary savings program where if the PI can get grant funding to cover some of their FTE rate, they are charged an upfront admin fee and then the remaining is transferred into a discretionary account for them to spend as they please for their lab.

Hi y’all!

 

We have a PI who gets lots of big funding. He is a research faculty and has already negotiated his research FTE from 0.25 to 0.30 or so.  Unfortunately, I has come to my attention that he has committed nearly 11.5 months effort across his grants.  I would love to know how other people have addressed this issue!  He claims to have talked to people at Georgia Tech and UMich that seem to have worked out some sort of department or college buy out.  I would love to hear all the ideas and suggestions.  I am still on the newer end of the research admin spectrum, so all help is appreciated.  Feel free to email me directly as xxxxxx@utah.edu.
