The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH’s) Office of Science Policy wants to understand perspectives about the return of individual research results to research study participants. We invite you to participate in a brief survey on this issue. Your answers will be anonymous.
We define individual research results as any personal health information collected or created while a person is participating in a research study. For example, an individual research result could be a laboratory test result or information from a smartwatch or fitness tracker. People who participate in a research study may have the option to receive their individual research results.
We would like to learn from research professionals in a wide range of communities about how to best return individual research results. We specifically want to understand your thoughts as a healthcare provider who may be involved in the process. You do not have to have prior experience with returning, interpreting, or communicating returned research results to participants/patients to answer the survey. The survey will take you about 5-7 minutes to complete. We greatly appreciate responses to the voluntary survey by May 10, 2024.
If you are interested in participating in an additional research phase on this subject, please provide us with your email address. Your time may be compensated for participation in the next phase.
