Hi,

We received conflicting information internally at our institution regarding K24 effort. We were previously told (internally) we could reduce effort by 25% or more as long as the PI maintained 25%-50% (3-6 person months) on the grant. We are now being told that the 3-6 person months effort is the allowable amount at the time of award and once you commit a certain effort, you are locked into that amount once the grant is awarded. Therefore, prior approval would be required to reduce the committed effort 25% or more irrespective of whether you stay within the 25-50%.

Does anyone have experience with this issue? Can a PI reduce their effort by 25% or more on a K24 as long as they maintain 25-50%? The FOA does not clearly specify.
