Same here. PIs may submit preliminary proposals/LOIs with a top-line number but anything requiring a detailed budget must come from an AOR without exception.

All sponsored proposals need to be submitted to a central office for review before a PI can apply – even if it is PI submission through another portal.
There has to be a record of it in the central system (such as infoed, etc.) and reviewed by the AO so that we have a record of the submission and can review any budgets included and potential resources.

Hi Hive Mind
I heard tell once at an NCURA meeting of a university (large, state, med school) that addressed proposals submitted without central office/AOR involvement by reserving
the right to refuse to accept any such awards. This institution communicated this to investigators so that they understood the risk. This was over a decade ago so it may not be in practice anymore.

Subject: [RESADM-L] At-risk proposal policy - PIs submit on their own
Hello ResAdmin listserv!
I was wondering if anyone has an at-risk proposal policy they could share? Specifically, if you allow faculty to submit without going through the central office/AOR for review
– this would be for foundation type proposals or sponsors without complexity that allow faculty to submit via email or their own login. How do you handle these? What are the requirements for allowing them to submit on their own? What happens if there are
errors?
I think this has been addressed previously on the listserv but I couldn’t find the emails in my search.
I appreciate any help,
