Job Summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring for Grants and Contracts Specialist, Neurology

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Grants and Contracts Specialist with experience in Basic Science Research Grants. The Grants and Contracts Specialist will work directly with their assigned Faculty to prepare grant proposals & provide guidance to stay abreast of grant rules & regulations for NIH, DOD, SRAs and various other federal, state, and foundation agencies. The specialist will research funding opportunities, monitor reporting dates, and renewal dates for all assigned Faculty grants. The position works closely with the finance team to gather information necessary to report to Sponsors & manage overall grant portfolios. The position also works closely with the Sponsored Programs Administrative Office to ensure impeccable timeliness and accuracy of all pre & post award submissions. The Grants and Contracts Specialist will manage grants throughout award life cycle and ensure proper due diligence for all assigned Faculty. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 1-2 years of experience related to the described responsibilities.

*This Position is a hybrid role; the candidate will work remotely four (4) days a week and in office one (1) day a week*

 

Experience and Education

·              Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field, and two (2) year’s experience in business or public administration with emphasis on customer service in financial or contracting position.

·              Applicants without the stated degree, but with significant additional professional applicable experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Job Duties

·              Provides funding opportunity information to potential applicants by reading announcements, searching directories and funding files, identifying and matching sponsor with researcher, and providing step-by-step detailed instructions to faculty principal investigators and research team.

·              Provides guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission by interpreting sponsor and university announcements and guidelines on application preparation and content by reviewing proposals for completeness and adherence to guidelines and mailing out proposals in timely manner.

·              Provides grants management support to researchers by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award changes, and obtaining required reports.

·              Drafts and negotiates contracts with various agencies (state and federal government, private organizations) to achieve agreements satisfactory to all parties, following state laws and Board of Regents’ guidelines.

·              Provides guidance and assistance to researchers as necessary for implementation and negotiation of research contracts, including sponsored research agreements and material transfer agreements.

·              Utilizes eGrants, eRA Commons, eAgreements, Proposal Central, and other systems.

·              Monitors status of contracts for completion. Performs other duties as assigned.
