Hi Brad:

Chiming in here with Melissa.  I think that is awesome that folks at your library help the faculty members. What a great service!

Our school faculty have to write their own.  I want share the FDP has actively been working on DMSP’s in collaboration with NIH.  I would take a look at this link and look at their resources.  There are templates, etc. available.

Kind regards,

Robyn

Hi Brad,

I know I am coming late to review this question – checking the listserv takes a back seat to the problem “fire” of the day(s).

I had a faculty member who received a recent award and he had to re-submit his DMSP before NIH would issue the award.  They rejected what he sent the first time.  I got him in contact with our colleagues at our Library who help the whole campus with writing DMSPs.  With their help, he was able to submit a compliant document and the Award was approved …eventually.

We also had to add a budget revision to add the costs of conducting the DMSP.  So, I would suggest reaching out to your campus library and see what assistance they can provide.

Thanks,

Hi Brad,

We ran into this same scenario. However, our PI had a phone call with the PO and was able to send an acceptable DMSP.

Thanks!

Elise

Subject: [RESADM-L] DMSP question

Hello.

At our institution, we had yet to receive word, from investigators, about significant pushback from NIH for Data Management & Sharing Plans (DMSP).  But, today, I have heard from a PI who is frustrated with a request from the Program Officer; he feels that he has provided the information needed.  Rather than specifically state the deficiencies for the different elements in his DMSP, NIH has pretty much just restated the guidance for each section.  I tend to agree with the PI that he has given full explanation for each element (except maybe one.)  Has anyone else encountered this?

It’s a longshot, but does anyone have a copy of a DMSP that they know was approved by NIH (maybe even after responding to an NIH PO’s request for more information) that you could share with me?

Thanks!

Brad
