Salary Range
Hiring range depending on qualifications, not anticipated to exceed $4,170 - $5,666 per month

About the Position

The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) works with other units throughout campus to seek external support for faculty research, scholarship, creative activity, and institutional projects that support the educational and service mission of the university. The Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) staff assist with proposal development (Office of Research Development), proposal submission, contract negotiation (Office of Grants & Contracts), and post award support (Office of Sponsored Programs), and help to assure that research and sponsored programs are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and regulatory standards (Office of Research Compliance). We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Research Development Specialist/Officer (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I).  The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

This position requires a high level of customer service and will play a centralized role in supporting faculty throughout the proposal development process.  Under general supervision, the Research Development Specialist/Officer works collaboratively and in close coordination with all units in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, College Dean and Associate Dean(s), Department Chairs, college search development teams, faculty and staff, and campus administrators, to: 1) stimulate proposal-writing by supporting the grantsmanship needs of faculty and staff through training and skill enhancement; and 2) support the Office of Research Development programs and initiatives aimed at increasing research and scholarship on campus. Identifies and electronically disseminates funding opportunities to faculty and staff utilizing web-based tools. Analyzes funding opportunities for eligibility and appropriateness based on faculty research interests and institutional needs. Maintains funding opportunity Master calendar. Distributes limited submission funding opportunities to campus and manages internal review and selection process. 

Coordinates all pre-proposal efforts through the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP). Provides expert knowledge of the proposal development process. Reviews and edits grant proposal narratives, as needed. Reviews and edits required pre-award documents such as letters of support, bio sketches, and other related materials. Updates and maintains university proposal boilerplate language including distinctions, awards, major accomplishments, and statistics. Develops, edits, and maintains promotional and branding materials for the Office of Research Development. Develops content for and facilitates trainings on grantsmanship and related topics. Participates in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) and College staff meetings. Works in a collegial and supportive manner with appropriate central and college-level units across campus including the Office of Grants and Contracts, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and he University Advancement Office including Development, Government and Community Relations and Strategic Communications and Brand Management. Other duties as assigned.
