In my experience,  NSF issues it under a new ID.  At my former Institution we had several infrastructure projects, and every 5 years we had to do a renewal and a new NSF award ID is issued.

I don’t have any regulations to point to, just my experience.

Thank you,

Melissa

Subject: [RESADM-L] NSF Renewal Proposal - are they awarded under a new/sep award number

Hello –

We have a researcher submitting an NSF renewal proposal. Does anyone know if the renewal will be issued under a separate (new) award id, or will the award continue under the same NSF award id? The NSF guidelines we have found do not address this question.

Thank you all!
