Job DescriptionThe Grants Specialist pursues grants for programs within the Idaho State University College of Technology. This involves researching, writing, overseeing, and preparing competitive proposals for submission. This position will work closely with the faculty and staff in a variety of disciplines as well as with the ISU Office of Sponsored Programs, to coordinate, develop and write grant proposals to government agencies and private entities in support of the Idaho State University College of Technology’s vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities- Search out grant opportunities for identified program needs within the College of Technology. This includes the identification and dissemination of funding opportunities appropriate to the College of Technology areas of expertise.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to generate ideas for grant opportunities.
- Interact with faculty, staff, and administrators in a variety of disciplines within the College of Technology to develop and write grant proposals.
- Educate faculty, staff, and administration on the techniques and processes for grant proposal writing.
- Cultivate and maintain knowledge of proposal preparation requirements for federal agencies, private foundations, and other funding sources.
- Coordinate with the university grant writer to avoid duplication of efforts.
- Remain current on sources for grants.
- Attend Technical College Council meetings to stay abreast of what is taking place within programs and the College.
- Attend department meetings.
- Provide monthly updates to the Dean.
- Coordinate with the College's University Business Officer and other administrators when grants are received.
- Coordinate College efforts with the institution's Office of Sponsored Programs.
- Write, submit, and manage local grants for Perkins V: Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century.
- Coordinate evaluation and monitoring of grant-funded projects.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated experience with coordinating/writing grants and successfully obtaining funding from submitted grants
- Broad range of grant proposal writing and management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within budget guidelines, state and federal regulations
- Proficient in computer applications; for example, experience with Word, Excel spreadsheets, PDF Documents, etc.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge and experience with career and technical programs in a post-secondary environment
- Experience with writing and management of federal grants
Additional Information

Salary will be between $55,000 and $60,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
