Has the book contract been included when considering other effort-based commitments? Like time available for teaching, etc? If the time committed to writing the book is considered in other “available effort equations,” then that lends some weight to including it here.
Curious how this discussion will play out,
Liz

Subject: RE: [RESADM-L] NSF Current/Pending: Question - Book Contracts?
My initial reaction was to say “No, not a relevant project that would go in a CPS document.”
And then I thought about it some more.
And now I’m not sure whether the answer should be yes or no.
The cons:
- I’ve never, ever seen a book contract listed on a CPS document. Not once in 20 years.
- There’s no quantifiable effort associated with it – just a deadline: “We need #NumberOfWords from you by #DeadlineDate”
- Is it really “support” in the relevant sense?
The pros:
- The person could guesstimate a time commitment
- It’s an actual contract that requires them to perform certain things in a certain timeframe
- Whatever time they do put into fulfilling the contract would obviously not be available for the EPIIC project

Hi, Folks,
I have a faculty member in a senior personnel role on our EPIIC submission, due today (we've already submitted, but this faculty member wants us to do a file update).
He wants to include his book contract on the C&P.
Thoughts?
Amy
