Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid schedule of 2 days/week in office)
Job Summary:
-
Reviews and ensures accurate & timely submission of University wide sponsored research grant proposals for standard and routine activity such as NIH R01 proposals and NSF basic research grants.

Provides administrative oversight for resulting awards; reviews and processes non-financial post award actions for compliance to sponsor and institutional policies and guidelines.

Manages a small constituency with an appropriate level of complexity.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

1-3 years’ experience in the administration of sponsored research at an educational institution, in the federal government or at some other entity engaged in sponsored research
-
Working knowledge of: Federal regulations related to research administration, other major federal funding agency guidelines, and major sponsor electronic systems (e.g., Grants.gov, Commons)

Job Summary:

Manages central Northwestern access to electronic research administration systems (e.g., grants.gov)

Coordinates the setup of new sponsors and subcontractors in sponsored project system

Maintains reporting and data operations of approximately $3.5 billion in proposal activity and $900 million in award data and ensures high level of data quality
-
Trains and supervises staff with respect to data procedures
-
Supports the execution of infrastructure projects and assists in the implementation of new systems and processes
Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

2-3 years sponsored research experience

Strong proficiency in use of an enterprise grants/awards management system and
standard software products (e.g., Excel)
