I presume you have a separate EIN, otherwise there is no sense in creating a separate foundation. If so, this is a separate entity and you want grants awarded to this new foundation, so you need a separate SAM
registration.
I worked at an institution where we had a research foundation and it had its own SAM registration, DUNS (now UEI), etc.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Separate SAM registration for Foundation?
Happy Friday, everyone!
We recently created an education foundation. Do we need a separate SAM registration for this entity, or do we use the same registration as our College’s? I’m hoping that someone in the listserv has had a similar situation and can advise.
My initial understanding was that we are okay with using one SAM registration for both and long as both reside at the same address (they do), but I want confirmation on this. I’ve reached out to SAM.gov twice but haven’t heard anything back.
