We also have a subcontractor with a CUI DCAA that sent their materials via email for a federal proposal.  And the coversheet contained this:

 

Since we are using this for a “Lawful Governmental Purpose” we don’t see it as a problem keeping it in the appropriate records etc. that are not CUI level.

Where are my CUI (controlled unclassified information) experts?

 

We have a GRANT submission going to NOAA. Our industry partner (our sub) has approved provisional fringe and overhead rates through DCAA. DCAA marked the rate agreement as CUI. We received it from our sub through standard email transmission. I can’t see how it qualifies as CUI, but here it is, marked as such.

 

While we can handle CUI, it’s not set up for this project and there is no other reason to do so.

 

What would you do ?
