Subject: [EXTERNAL] [RESADM-L] RE: NSF ENGINES LOI

I read the new FAQs as the limit only applies to proposals. LOIs are not limited. That is a change from the June 16 FAQs where is said LOIs were limited. It looks like a pretty deliberate change as they removed that first full sentence from the June 16 version.

June 16 version

2. Is there a limit on the number of LOIs that can be submitted by a lead organization?

Yes. An organization may submit only one LOI as the lead organization. There is no limit on the number of LOIs in which an organization can be listed as a partner organization. A LOI is just a notification to NSF that the organization intends to submit a full proposal before the deadline. All proposals submitted will be associated with an LOI. NSF will check for compliance with proposal submission limits only after proposals have been submitted. If it is found that an organization has submitted multiple LOIs and/or proposals, then NSF will only accept the earliest submitted proposal from the organization and return other proposals without review.

Subject: [RESADM-L] NSF ENGINES LOI

Good morning.

Does anyone have insight into whether the Letters of Intent for the new NSF ENGINES program are limited. There seem to have been several changes to the requirements since the BAA was released, and it looks like there has been another update, noted in the most recent FAQs, that changes the LOI from limited to unlimited but it is not absolutely clear. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Cindy
