No and it is a mixture of the use of funds and should not be allowed.  Where the check is deposited should be based on the purpose of the funds.  If it is payment for a service, it should run through a grant or auxiliary depending on the purpose.  If it is a gift to support a faculty member’s research it should go through a gift fund or foundation, if you have one for such purposes.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Direct deposits in to the IDC accounts

Note: This message originated from outside the FIU Faculty/Staff email system.

Hi,

At our institution, PI’s IDC accounts where F&A distribution has been allocated to are project-controlled budgets and can’t be used for any direct deposits, like personal checks. Has anyone ever had a situation where a personal check or a check that was not associated to any sponsored projects was deposited into an IDC account?

Warmest regards,

Morgan Sohrabian
