Grant Writer

                                                            (this is NOT a remote position)

 

The Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking a full-time Grant Writer to work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators from a variety of disciplines, to develop and write grant proposals for large-scale, strategic proposals with broad University impact and involving interdisciplinary teams.

 

Major job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1.            Coordinate, develop, and write grant proposals to government agencies and private entities for large-scale, strategic proposals with broad University impact and involving interdisciplinary teams.

   Identify, review, and analyze funding opportunities; write non- programmatic proposal sections; edit and rewrite; review supplementary documents for compliance with sponsor and assemble these documents; develop checklists and timelines; coordinate pre-submission peer review (when appropriate) provide logistical support; compare proposal to RFA for alignment and completion.

   Facilitate collaboration among faculty, staff, and administrators from OSU and partner institutions/organizations and for multi- institutional, interdisciplinary projects.

   Compose, organize, and refine information included in external funding proposals, ensuring compliance with University, government, and funding agency regulations. Exercise independent judgment in clarifying and resolving conflicts and issues of concern related to proposal submission.

 

2.            Cultivate and maintain knowledge of proposal preparation and submission requirements of federal agencies, private foundations, industry sponsors, the University, and other funding organizations.

 

3.            Develop and maintain resource information to assist faculty with proposal development including educational and informational materials posted on-line and otherwise disseminated widely (e.g., library of resources on topics such as broader impacts/broadening participation, campus research facilities, etc.).

 

4.            Develop and deliver in-service trainings/workshops/seminars on topics related to grant proposal development and preparation to (a) faculty and staff and (b) college-based research administrative staff.

 

5.            Provide grant writing assistance for Oklahoma A&M System institutions when needed.

 

Professional Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required.  The ideal candidate must have at least five years of professional grant writing experience, a strong background in research or creative project proposal development, with a proven record of funded proposals from private, state and/or federal sponsors.  Must also have professional research proposal preparation experience, experience with reviewing, understanding, and interpreting federal and non-federal sponsor regulations including proposal budget development, complex proposal submissions, interpretation of solicitation language and compliance requirements of the federal government, University, foundations and non-profits, and other external funding agencies. 

 

OSU prefers an individual with a Master’s degree with eight years of professional grant writing experience, with a successful track record of grant acquisition from state and federal level sponsors.  For other minimum qualifications, see the online posting noted under the application procedures.
