Hello everyone.

I have a one-off task outside my normal area and I could use input from anyone with experience in this solicitation type.

Under the NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Centers Program (IUCRC) Program Solicitation NSF 20-570, NSF offers supplemental funding opportunities (https://www.nsf.gov/eng/iip/iucrc/funding.jsp) to enhance the IUCRC training and education mission.

The specific path of interest is “Non-Academic Research Internships for Graduate Students (INTERN): Support graduate students in research in non-academic settings, including company and government laboratories, to enhance student career potential and provide work experience outside of academia; typically, up to $55,000”.

As a component of the proposal submission to NSF, I need to include a written agreement addressing intellectual property and publication rights between the university and the corporation providing the non-academic internship opportunity.  NSF wants no march-in-rights or reports from the internship efforts.

Internships are outside my contracting area.  I would appreciate an assist from anyone who has submitted this type of agreement to NSF in the past and can provide information on what specific language you recommend including in an agreement for this purpose. A deidentified version of a past university / corporation NSF-INTERN agreement would be wonderful if you have one to share.
