The University of New Mexico (UNM) Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, results-driven, proactive and resourceful individual to join our team
as a Technical Training Consultant. The mission of the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is to advance innovation and discovery. The core of this mission is the research, scholarship, and creative works of UNM faculty. The OVPR seeks to facilitate
these activities, resulting in new knowledge and applications of value to academic communities and the public.
As a member of the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), the successful candidate will coordinate:

Development and implementation of a robust, comprehensive training and education program for all main and branch campus research administrators;
-
Development and implementation of training for principal investigators on their pre- and post-award compliance responsibilities related to sponsored research; and
-
Training and education resources across units that report to the OVPR.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:
-
Developing, delivering and maintaining in-person and virtual research administration workshops and static electronic resource materials, including support for proposal development and award management using UNM’s electronic research administration software
-
In collaboration with Office of Sponsored Projects/Contract and Grant Accounting (OSP/CGA) and the Faculty Research Development Office (FRDO), coordinating Research Administrators Network (RAN) meetings and the annual Research Administrators Symposium
-
Conducting needs assessments to determine research administration training/education needs; develop and implement tools to evaluate effectiveness of training opportunities and materials
-
Annually reviewing and updating the required Grants Management Training for Principal Investigators
-
Annually reviewing, revising and updating the Proposal Development and Award Guide (PDAG)
-
In collaboration with relevant units, developing appropriate training and resources for on-boarding newly hired department/unit research administrators and research development professionals
-
Developing and maintaining a UNM research administrator certification program that is coordinated with UNM HR.

Organizing/hosting study groups for staff choosing to pursue research administrator certification (CRA)
-
In collaboration with Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, developing training resources related to Research Security and Integrity
-
Coordinating and aligning training and education efforts and resources across OVPR units as well as with other relevant efforts across UNM campuses
The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal), have demonstrated experience in training and adult education, display strong organizational and prioritization
skills, and will work closely with other members of the team to professionally represent the OVPR to internal and external constituencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which includes at least 1 year of experience conducting hands-on technical training.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education or related field
-
A minimum of 1 year of experience working with adult learners
-
Advanced level experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
-
Project management, organizational, and presentation skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
-
Experience working in an environment that requires adaptability, independent management of competing demands and adjustments to frequent change while staying professional and positive
-
Ability to multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines
-
Ability to review existing training processes/programs and identify gaps/educational needs, provide recommendations, build a strategy to solve and then implement solutions in collaboration with other relevant units
-
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including accurately analyzing target audience needs and presenting ideas in a clear, concise manner.

Demonstrated engagement and support of diverse individuals as well as experience with diversity, equity, inclusion, and access initiatives
-
Extensive working knowledge in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training plans, curricula, and methodology, including developing digital media and online content for training and course delivery.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
