I have a Grants and Contracts Specialist (department level) who has been with me for 3+ years.  Her husband accepted a position in another state, but because of our new telework policy at St. Jude my GCS is now a full-time remote employee.  The implementation of our new policy was perfectly timed, and I am so happy to still have her on my staff.

Before COVID, most of our telework was handled at the department level (usually a day or two here or there), though we had a limited institutional policy.  We've had space and parking issues in the past and telework was offered occasionally to help with those situations.

We have a new policy in effect allowing telework and I have seen some positions hire people who are completely remote.  Where the individuals live and the telework laws in those areas are taken into account before approval is given.

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday.  I wanted to reach out to you to see how many of your institutions allow telework.  Specifically, I’d love to know:

 

  1. Did you offer telework before COVID?  If so, was it limited to a number of days per week or full-time?
  2. If you did not allow telework before COVID, are you now considering to allow telework post-COVID (when we get there)?  If so, will it be limited to a number of days per week or full-time?
