Check to see if they are registered in research.gov /Fastlane with an ID number

If they are not registered – it is moot – they cannot be listed as co-pi

[EXTERNAL EMAIL]

Thanks Donna. Normally we would include a subaward but this one is different as no funds are being requested for a subaward or to compensate the Co-PI. Someone had suggested earlier that I might be able to add the Co-PI under Manage Personnel, but I haven’t been able to test this as we are waiting for the Co-PI to register and set up a PI/Co-PI role on Research.gov.

To be frank, this one is headache. The Co-PI is at a local education agency, and thus not set up to function as a Co-PI on a research grant. However, my PI insists on having them as a Co-PI and NSF has allowed it.

Thanks for your help!

Christine

Hi Christine,

We always include a subaward for a Co-PI and include all related documentation as part of the subaward on Fastlane/research.gov.   Are any funds supposed to go to the Co-PI?  If so, I would ask the Co-PI for their sponsored projects office contact information before proceeding.  If the Co-PI wants to be included without any pay,  NSF may disallow this because it violates the NSF's no cost share policy and could disqualify your application. If you need verification of this, contact NSF's policy office.  I hope this helps.  Let us know how you make out.

[EXTERNAL EMAIL]

Hi All,

I have a NSF proposal involving a Co-PI at another institution, and there will not be any funds going to them (no subaward). Where would the Co-PI’s biographical documents (Biosketch, Current and Pending, COA) go in Research.gov? Since there isn’t a subaward, I wouldn’t have a place to put those documents in their own respective slots for the individual. Should they all go under Other Personnel Biographical Information? I’m hesitant doing this since it will re-format the NSF-approved forms.

Looking forward to hear what others suggest or have done in their experience.

Thank you,

Christine
