Great to see so much interest in tracking RA workload !
And I know there is SO MUCH EXPERIENCE within this list.
Why don't we create one together?

I volunteer to create a spreadsheet and share it with everyone
and need your help with ideas and suggestions. :-)

Traci gave us a good start for both pre- and post-award categories to track.
I've added single vs multiple PI. What else would YOU add?

In addition to WHAT shall be scored, we'll need to decide HOW we should score it.
Examples: 1-4 for 1=simple .. 2=somewhat complex ... 3=complex ... 4=extremely complex?
                Time it takes?  1-4 may be 1=2-4 hours...2=4-8 hrs...3=1-5 days...4=at least a week ?
Both in different columns?

Shall we start there and see if collectively we get some clarity? I'm open to all ideas.
Please provide your suggestions over the next week (by Oct 23) and I'll send out what I have after that
knowing this will be a work in progress.

Pre-award / Proposals = (score):
Federal =
Non-Federal =
Cost share involved =
Single Sub-recipients involved =
Multiple Sub-recipients involved =
International component =
Single PI =
Multiple PI =

Cost share involved =
Single Sub-recipient involved =
Multiple Sub-recipients involved =
International component =
Single PI =
Multiple PI =

Subject: [RESADM-L] Tracking RA staff workload ...??

Happy Thursday!

Some time ago, a colleague shared a spreadsheet that helped their office track RA staff workload.  It was an excel file and allowed the staff member to assign a weighted score based on the characteristics of the proposal on which they were working (federal, cost share, subs, international component, etc).  Each score was given a weight and it calculated a final score or ‘difficulty’ level of the proposal.

Does anyone have a tool they use (and like!) that helps not only track # of props/awards (would love to have a tool for both pre and post!) per staff member but allows you to assign it a weighted score to account for the more complicated submissions?

Thanks!!!
