Description of Job Duties |
Responsible for the overall leadership and management of faculty and grant development staff and programming within the Office for Research Support. Work with internal and external partners/stakeholders, campus leaders, grant development and other research staff to gather input, assess needs,
and determine how to best meet faculty and grant development needs of the campus community. Plan and assist with the execution of the New Faculty Institute, to include developing research-focused sessions, in partnership with the Office
of Teaching and Learning. Plan and deliver faculty and grant development workshops, academic lectures, networking sessions, conferences and other events managed through
the unit. Serve as central coordinator for grant development staff to facilitate the sharing of best practices, communicating updates regarding institutional
initiatives, working together to establish and maintain transdisciplinary teams and, generally, creating a support system for a group that is otherwise distributed across campus. Oversee limited submission process, to include providing strategic guidance in terms of what opportunities will be competed versus targeted to
certain faculty/teams; reviewing all announcements, timelines and other communications before they are released to campus community; planning for and coordinating internal review; and addressing complaints or unique issues that may arise through the process. Manage the Targeted Scholarly Awards program, to include web/information maintenance, working with college leaders to identify faculty well-positioned
to pursue these programs, developing grant development services around these opportunities to increase success rates and assisting with coordination of incentive payments, should awards be received. Provide grant development assistance for larger, institutionally significant proposals, to include proposal/whitepaper editing and feedback on
responsiveness, project management, drafting sections of narratives and other documents, reviewing past submission critiques for improvement prior to resubmission, researching sponsor priorities and communicating with program managers. Coordinate the collection of institutional data and proposal documents, conducting individualized funding searches, providing consultation regarding
proposal compliance and review/submission processes. Initiate and manage campus teaming efforts and work with the Vice President and other leaders to identify areas of institutional strength and
convene meetings or other networking opportunities to bring researchers together. Implement new processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness across all programs while decreasing costs where possible. Perform other duties as assigned. |
