VCU Massey Cancer Center is looking for a post award accountant. This position is mainly focused on NIH grant awards but will also have other program projects and other support indexes for the Cancer Center in the portfolio. Come join the MCC Finance Team in Richmond, Virginia.

VCU’s Massey Cancer Center is searching for qualified applicants to provide analytical support including reporting, compliance, and fiscal administration of post-award research grants, CORES, program projects, and other indexes/projects of the Cancer Center. This position will project expenditures, prepare cost transfers and monthly journal vouchers, and monitor budgets to identify and resolve potential issues. Working with Principal Investigators (PI), this position will monitor and reconcile grant activity to ensure required actions are completed and meet regulatory compliance standards.
Demonstrated research administration experience with post-award emphasis, Demonstrated ability to work independently to foresee and anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner.
Knowledge of accounting practices and applied GAAP principles. Knowledge of office administration and file management techniques. Experience with data base systems. Demonstrated superior skills using Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office software applications. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment. Ability to prioritize, focus, works independently and be flexible when contingencies arise. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Minimum 1-3 years grants management experience in an academic /medical setting, or equivalent required. Significant experience in financial, grants and accounting is required. Considerable experience in analyzing data, interpreting information, providing logical conclusions/projections and anticipating costs/obligations is required.
