Hi, Robin—

The TRIO SSS program (like a number of other programs at USEd) is only competed once every five years. If you’re funded, you get funding for that five year period and then reapply for the next cycle. But if you aren’t funded, yes, you do have to wait until the next five-year cycle opens up: they don’t add new programs in the intervening years.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Looking for someone familiar with TRIO SSS programs

Good afternoon!

We are currently looking at the TRIO SSS program application, and have a question. It sounds completely outlandish to me, but the answer is supposed to have come directly from the Department of Education.

Can you in fact only apply for the TRIO SSS program once every 5 years, even if you are not funded? I totally get that to be the case if you are funded, but it seems a little extreme if you are not funded to restrict the applications by this much.

Thank you for any insight you may have.

Robin
