The Oregon State University Research Office is seeking a Grant and Contract Officer. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Vice President.
The Office for Sponsored Research and Award Administration (OSRAA) resides within the Research Office. Its mission is to provide research administration leadership, achieved through the full sponsored project “lifecycle” by supporting
proposal submission, award negotiation/acceptance, research costing and analysis, award management, financial management and closeout of awards that support Oregon State University’s continuous search for new knowledge and solutions in the three signature
areas outlined in OSU’s Strategic Plan (SP 4.0).
The Grant and Contract Officer has delegated authority as an institutional authorizing official for the submission of all research proposals and is also responsible for negotiation, acceptance and signature of externally-funded research agreements and outgoing
sub-agreements. This position provides faculty, researchers and staff with guidance on financial, administrative, and regulatory issues arising during the review, negotiation and acceptance of sponsored awards. Extensive interactions are required with researchers,
university administration and external agency officials within complex institutional settings. In addition, the incumbent is expected to provide excellent customer service and assistance to OSU’s faculty, as well as nurture positive relationships both inside
and outside of OSU.
The position reports to the Managing Grant and Contract Officer and works closely with personnel across all teams in
OSRAA, as well as the General Counsel, the Office of Procurement, Contracts and Materials Management, other Research Office units, such as the Office for Commercialization and Corporate Development, the Office for Research Development
and the Office of Research Integrity, and other campus personnel involved in grant and contract management within business centers, colleges, centers and departments. The Grant and Contract Officer’s time is primarily dedicated to grant and contract review,
negotiation and acceptance, with remaining time focused on proposal review and approval.
