Dear Jeanie,
We recently implemented a new system, and my staff and I created the following training guides, with screenshots of the appropriate steps from the new system:
·
PI/Lab 424 training guide
·
PI/Lab non-424 training guide
·
Competing renewal training guide
·
Resubmission training guide
·
Continuation training guide
·
OSPA user guide for backfilling pending proposals which enter JIT or Award status (we only brought in active awards, not pending proposals)
·
Quick reference guide
·
Human Subjects section training guide (for 424s)
·
Award Modification training guide
·
OSPA JIT training guide
·
PI Certification quick reference
·
Award/Finance office training guide
·
OSPA budget training guide (my office does all budgets now)
The guides which are for the PIs/labs are on our OSPA website.
When testing the system, my staff and I played different roles within the system (PI, back office, etc.) to get a feel for how things worked, so we’d be able to
answer questions as they came up.
Just before launch, I began holding classes in a computer training center where learners (PIs and their staff) could come for an hour, see a demo, and try the system
out themselves. I developed a canned 424 application and slides, and walked them through the process all the way up to just prior to submission. Overall I held about two dozen classes. My staff has also held on 1:1 training sessions with individuals as needed.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Collette

Subject: [RESADM-L] eRA Software Training Tips?
Hello All,
UIndy has contracted with InfoEd Global for their eRA software. I'm feeling VERY overwhelmed, being a one-person shop, at the notion of training (basically) everyone to
use this software.
Does anyone have helpful tips they'd be willing to share on how you trained others to use your eRA software? Whether or not you contract with InfoEd, I'm all ears for useful
info.
Thanks,
Jeanie
Did you know? Since
2010 more than 110 UIndy faculty and staff have submitted 340 proposals resulting in more than
$45.7 million in external funding for research projects and scholarly initiatives.
