I’d be interested in that as well.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Time Metrics

Hi,

I am trying to gather data on the AVERAGE amount of time a research administrator spends on various stages of grant. I am aware that it really depends on the type of project, the type of sponsor, if there are sub-awards, etc. etc. What I need to do is come up with some number to justify and explain staff time and effort. It isn’t enough to say a coordinator processed 50 proposals and 10 awards, issued 6 subcontracts, and submitted 3 amendments. This doesn’t mean anything to a person outside of RA. I need to translate that into hours worked. So….if you have any metrics along those lines you can share, would you please? I am looking for hours spent on ALL aspects of the research process, so anything you can provide me would be helpful.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Ashley
