On behalf of Dr. Hala Schepmann, Chair of Chemistry at Southern Oregon University:
I’m reaching out to you to seek your help to disseminate a potential NSF grant partnership opportunity to the correct individuals at your institution.
A group of PIs at predominantly undergraduate institutions in Oregon, Washington, Northern California, and Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois are partnering on an NSF ADVANCE Partnership grant proposal to support the formation of inter-institutional peer-mentoring groups for late early-career and mid-career women faculty in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science/Mathematics, and Physics/Engineering.
INVITATION TO COLLABORATE: We are seeking faculty at PUIs in the West and Upper Midwest who are interested in collaborating on our NSF ADVANCE Partnership Grant.
Are there faculty who identify as women in STEM at your institution that would be interested in participating as a member of a peer-to-peer mentoring network? If so, how many faculty do you estimate would be interested in each disciplinary network (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science/Mathematics, and Physics/Engineering)?
We are also particularly interested in the experiences of STEM faculty who are impacted by the intersection of gender and race, ethnicity, disability status, economic status, first generation status, foreign-born and foreign-trained status, and/or sexual orientation. What is your estimate of how many such faculty in STEM at your institution would be interested in each disciplinary network (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science/Mathematics, and Physics/Engineering)?
RESPONSE REQUESTED:
1. Please forward this email and attached proposal abstract to deans, division chairs, department chairs, and/or STEM faculty members at your institutions who might be interested in the issues presented in the attached abstract.
2. If, after reading the attached materials, you and your institution are interested in participating in this proposal, then please send an email indicating your interest to Dr. Hala Schepmann (xxxxxx@sou.edu), Chair of Chemistry at Southern Oregon University by Friday, August 3, 2018.
Thanks very much for considering our request and passing it along to those you think might benefit from such a partnership.
Sincerely,
Joanne
