I have a PI that asked me the following questions and am looking for help in answering him.

Are there DOD guidelines requiring sex as a relevant biological variable, as rigidly (specifically) as NIH grants?

For example, studying a disease in one sex only is not acceptable (meaning a serious weakness) by NIH even if it is 10 times more prevalent in that sex than the other.  As long as the other sex can have the disease, NIH asks that sex should be included.

Are there similar guidelines for DOD?

Has anyone have experience to share regarding this?

Sincerely,

Mark J. Ernatt
