Rice University Office of Sponsored Projects and Research Compliance in Houston, TX is seeking a Contracts Specialist.

 

Position Summary

The Compliance Administrator is responsible for negotiating subcontracts, professional service agreements, grant agreements, and various other agreements related to sponsored projects on behalf of the university

Primary job duties include: 
- Conducts formal solicitation, negotiation, and administration of contracts by government and non-government sponsors. Ensuring compliance with internal policy and external regulations such as Code of Federal Regulations and Federal Acquisitions Regulations, Office of Management & Budget guidance.

- Accepts and executes basic contract and sub-contract on behalf of the university serving as liaison between the faculty and sponsors during contract negotiation and by providing justification, documentation, and policy/guideline interpretation to stakeholders.

- Assists department administrators, principal investigators, and staff; interprets and explains contract provisions and terms.

- Assists in the resolution of problems arising in the course of the project; consults with department administrators, principal investigators, staff, and sponsors.

-Review contract for special provisions and coordinate account setup with the post-award team.

- Partners with others to serve as a resource to educate units regarding institutional processes.

 

Requirements

-Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year experience required.

- Experience in reviewing and negotiating agreements and contracts.

 

Experienced Preferred

- Three years of experience working with contracts and grants. 
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Pre-Award (CPRA) certification preferred. 
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Pro.
- Experience with Cayuse and Banner.
