Hello Colleagues.  Come join my team as a Project Representative in the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor!  
 
We are looking for someone to provide pre-award services (especially, though not exclusively, contract negotiation) and non-financial post-award research administration services on our Private/Non-Governmental Sponsors Team.  Estimated starting salary is around $60K.

Responsibilities

Under supervision of an ORSP Managing Project Representative, the Assistant Project Representative will work collaboratively across campus with units engaged in sponsored activity, providing high quality support and customer service to faculty, staff and sponsor representatives. The Assistant Project Representative will assist faculty and staff regarding proposal preparation, award administration and compliance issues; review extramural grant, cooperative agreement, contract, and subcontract proposals; negotiate grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and subcontracts; coordinate the submission and acceptance of standard awards; coordinate approval processes for pre-award and post-award actions and approve such actions within delegated authority; prepare and negotiate subcontracts, sub-agreements and multiple campus agreements and monitor sub-recipient compliance with prime award terms and conditions; other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent work ethic.
- Experience with reading, interpreting, and revising agreements.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and explain complex policies, regulations, statutes and guidelines to others.
- Negotiation skills sufficient to negotiate the terms and conditions of grants, cooperative agreements, contracts and subcontracts.  Ability to make sound decisions and employ effective problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and multitask in a time sensitive, high volume work environment.
- Working knowledge of computers, ordinary office software suites (e.g., Word, Excel), enterprise software systems, web browsers, and electronic mail programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in office operational transactions.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong active listening skills, highly developed emotional intelligence, ability to work well as a team member, and a positive attitude.
- Skill in writing grammatically correct, clear and concise business correspondence, and ability to proofread business correspondence with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to input and manage data with a high degree of accuracy.
- A commitment to personal and professional integrity, and a strong sense of accountability.
- U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status: ORSP deals with export controlled information, the handling of which is regulated by the U.S. Federal Government and access to which is restricted to U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents.

Desired Qualifications

- Experience in pre-award and post-award grant and contract administration related to various extramural sponsors, including but not limited to Federal agencies, state agencies, nonprofit organizations and industry.
- Familiarity with U-M policies and procedures related to research administration (including, but not limited to, accounting, purchasing, personnel and regulatory compliance).
- Certification in Research Administration (CRA), JD, MBA or comparable degree/certification.
