Hi Martina

It depends... traditionally, NCURA has been college/university based.  I have been an SRA member for quite sometime and really enjoy the diversity of the membership base.  SRA also includes members from the government, non-profit, industry sectors, along with higher education.

Speaking proposals for the sections and international meetings are highly encouraged and peer reviewed to ensure a broad-based program.  All learning activities are based on the needs of members, including webinars and themed meetings.  Members are encouraged to strive to become distinguished faculty and participate in the speaker’s bureau, along with a variety of different volunteer activities, which includes the only peer reviewed journal in our profession.

SRA rotates it’s annual meeting, which typically includes colleagues from over 30 countries to different locations in the US and Canada. Section meetings are on a rotating basis and are usually in two year pairings.  For example, Northeast/Western will meet together for two years, once in each location and then they will pair up with either the Midwest or Southern section for the next two.  International and Canadian sections meet together.  Members are not limited to attending their “own” section meeting.

I am sure that I am missing some of the other benefits of SRA.  I hope this helps... you can contact Ellen Quinn (copied) for additional information.

Best regards
Sandra

Good Afternoon All,

I am a member of NCURA and not sure if I should renew or have a membership with SRA. Which do you find the most value in? Thanks in advance,

Martina Stanley, MPA, CRA
