Subject: [RESADM-L] F-RPPR due B4 renewal is submitted
I’ll apologize up front for this ridiculous question but I’m having a hard time cyphering the NIH guidelines. The PI of an 5 year R01 submitted a competing renewal during the last funding
year which was not funded. After a NCE ended (July 31st) he is planning on resubmitting his type 2 renewal application. The final report is due in November and the resubmission of the competing renewal will not be submitted until February. Are
there any ramifications of submitting a F-RPPR in November? In this case the renewal application has not been submitted. I would hate to think that NIH would approve all the reports then close it out on their end before our resubmission of the renewal is
submitted. Any words of wisdom?
The NIH guidelines state:
If a competitive renewal (Type 2) application has been submitted, the recipient must submit an Interim-RPPR while their renewal application is under consideration. In the event that the Type 2 is funded, NIH will treat the Interim-RPPR
as the annual performance report for the final year of the previous competitive segment. If the Type 2 is not funded, the Interim RPPR will be treated by NIH staff as the institution's Final RPPR
