Well, at two universities with which I have been affiliated the HR office conducted equity assessments (at my request) which resulted in not insignificant changes to the salary structure.  Might want to start there if you have not already.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Compensation consultant?

Good afternoon-

We’re interested in hiring a consultant who can help us with a comprehensive review of pay scales for several of our research administration positions.  If you’ve had experience, good or bad, with compensation consultants, I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks for your help!

-Amy
