Business Systems Director Job Posting
The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) in Tallahassee, FL is seeking Business Systems Director
to serve as the chief financial, compliance and administrative officer of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab).
He/she will be responsible for conducting and monitoring the day-to-day business and operational functions of the MagLab, which includes short-term and long-term planning and budget development.
This includes internal communications, purchasing, capital improvements, contracts, business development, and ensuring the MagLab meets all fiscal, administrative, and auditing requirements.
Directs the financial functions of the MagLab and provides oversight for the Project Management Program at the NHMFL ensuring that Project Managers are following guidelines and providing management with timely reports on schedule,
budget, safety, and performance. Serves as Chief Compliance Officer for the MagLab and represent the MagLab in NSF Business Systems Reviews and federal and state audits.
Manages the Administrative functions of the MagLab and provides leadership to MagLab admin and core staff, and indirectly to faculty, staff, and student members of the
Laboratory. Supervises fiscal and UBA staff of the MagLab.
Requirements include a
Bachelor's degree and six years of budget/fiscal experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience to equal ten years including six years’ experience. Experience managing administrative functions, developing
policy and procedures, and oversight of contract administration. Skills in strategic planning and serving as a catalyst for organizational change. Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation. Skill in preparing
clear and concise reports, policies, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials. Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Word and Excel or comparable software. Knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices
to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to supervise employees, maintain and improve personal and team effectiveness, and foster change and creativity.
