Job Title: Manager, Research Compliance

Location: Main Campus, Laramie, Wyoming

Department: Vice President for Research & Economic Development Office

Salary: Minimum Rate: $58,356.00 - Maximum Rate: $65,000.00

Essential Duties:

Oversee and manage a unified program, monitor the regulatory environment and coordinate institutional self-assessments in research compliance including but not limited to human subjects research, animal research, conflict of interest, public access, unmanned aircraft systems, export control, radiation safety and biosafety.

 

Create and maintain a university-wide, comprehensive compliance program for sponsored research consistent with the Federal guidelines. Create and maintain appropriate research compliance documents, forms, and web pages.

 

Serve as a principle point of contact for information regarding research compliance, provide expert knowledge of regulations governing research and serve as a resource to university researchers and research administrators.

 

Submit reports to federal agencies as required. Perform an ongoing review of compliance programs to identify gaps in the University's compliance approach and areas in need of improvement.

 

Supervise and manage the research compliance Staff Assistant position, and the two Research Safety Specialists (radiation safety and biosafety).

 

Assist the Vice President and Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development in development, implementation and updating of research compliance policies and procedures and record-keeping systems.

 

Oversee and conduct a high-level review of all research proposals and protocols involving human subjects and animals that are submitted to the Office of Research and Economic Development.

 

Serve as an ex-officio member of university research compliance committees, including the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, the Institutional Review Board, the Radiation Safety Committee and the Biosafety Committee.  Assist with developing and maintaining protocol tracking databases and other records, advise the committees on regulatory questions, and assist with investigating and documenting cases of noncompliance.

 

Develop and deliver compliance education programs.

 

Develop and maintain processes for evaluating, managing and monitoring conflict of interest.

               

Minimum Qualifications:            

·         Bachelor's level degree and five years of experience in one of the compliance related areas or equivalent combination of experience and education.

·         Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

·         Experience dealing with difficult situations.

·         Good customer service skills.

               

Desired Qualifications:

·         Master's level degree in related field.

·         Specific training in one or more of the compliance areas.

·         Experience with compliance in a University setting.

·         Experience with writing and developing policies.
