Fulton Schools of Engineering, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE) Research Advancement Team. This position is primarily dedicated to post-award management but will include pre-award functions as it relates to awarded
projects that require proposal entry. Under administrative direction, this position has the responsibility of providing post-award financial, accounting, and administrative support for both sponsored and local accounts to faculty. Must be able to work well
with teams, be collaborative and an independent decision maker.

Major Responsibilities:
- Manages awarded projects in accordance with University and sponsor regulations.
- Prepares standard and non-standard accounting reports monthly for account monitoring for sponsored, local, and state/start-up accounts by analyzing, reconciling, forecasting account deficits, and residual
balances by gathering information from the University’s databases.
- Position responsibilities also include but are not limited to rebudgeting, expense transfers, account forecasting, effort reporting, account close out, position account changes, working with the University
budget preparation process. Assisting in all areas of award management.
- Monthly review of awarded projects for compliance of charges in accordance with sponsoring agency/contract conditions and requirements to identify potential issues, for expenditure burn rates, upcoming deadlines,
potential deficits, and accurate payroll summaries.
- Acts as a resource to research investigators and departmental business staff on sponsor policies and regulations regarding the administration of award funds and assists in resolutions when necessary.
- Maintains all applicable awarded project records and files; Decides proper handling of financial transactions; Approves transactions to be reasonable, allocable, and allowable per appropriate guidelines.
- Responds to inquiries in a timely manner using effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills and methods as appropriate to address questions and/or concerns with diverse
groups of faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist faculty with sponsor-required reports for research.gov, ERA commons, and EERE Project Management Center.
- Works independently under deadlines, manages multiple responsibilities and duties with interruptions, and in unclear and/or changing situations.
- Maintains and continually improve technology skills to be able to efficiently and effectively solve challenges and forecast trends.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience producing financial reports and budget development.
- Experience problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills; demonstrated evidence of multitasking while producing accurate output; demonstrated evidence of meeting deadlines for multiple projects.
- Experience working with projects that include issues such as cost sharing.
- Experience working independently as well as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of sponsors including NSF, NIH, Dept. of Energy, EPA, ONR, DOD, ADOT, other local and federal agencies, industry, and private foundations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of higher education, Board of Regents practices, RSP policies and procedures, and sponsored research.
- Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in offering a high level of customer service.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro Acrobat, STAR, PeopleSoft, Advantage.
- Experience with auditing/accounting principles, theory and practices, especially as it relates to government accounting.
- Experience with research methods and grant/contract administration.
- Experience with the policies, procedures, and requirements of all applicable regulations governing management of grants and contracts.
- Experience working with grants and contracts or similarly complex documents within a university environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Uniform Guidance
