The incumbent reports to the Associate Dean for Research and is responsible for effectively overseeing the administration and management of sponsored programs proposal preparation and submission. Acts as point of contact and subject matter expert for SSW principal investigators (PI) and assist the Associate Dean for Research with the coordination of research related activities. Provides consistent feedback to the Associate Dean and the Director of Research Administration as needed on PI activities. Coordinates and manages the school’s undergraduate and graduate research assistants. Has autonomy over area of responsibility and provides supervision of operational functions of funded projects with in the School. Works directly with the Associate Dean for Research on scheduling and other areas of administration. Directly impacts policy, budget decisions, and operations at the School level. Works closely with Director of Research Administration and other post award and finance office team members.
Required:
Prior experience working with University faculty, research personnel, and budgeting is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience in working with local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations, as well as VCU and Commonwealth of Virginia accounting policies and procedures, is helpful. Requires the ability to apply and interpret existing, relevant university and federal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations to specific proposed and funded projects. Ability to be precise, thorough, reliable, professional, and creative is required. Must possess the ability to work with a diverse population, to provide excellent customer service, and to think outside the box to independently solve problems.
