Hi Brittany,

This happens now and then at our institution and it can cause some grief because of our system and state procurement rules. The vendor could take the acceptance as the purchase being guaranteed-which is isn’t. This is were we run into snags because by state law we have to bid out any services and purchases over. Depending on cost, the bid may have to become a RFP situation. So in other works, just because a certain vendor is stated in our proposal and budget, our purchasing office cannot accept it a “must buy from this vendor” type of situation.

Hello,

A vendor called to offer to their help writing a grant application (NSF MRI). I think one of our faculty members reached out to them about purchasing a piece of equipment and this is something new they are offering to their customers. They left the message with one of our assistants (she didn’t remember the name of the company) while I was out of the office and said they would call back this week. Has anyone ever heard of this? Would there be any reason not to consider their offer for assistance?
