I’ll have to agree with Theresa on this. I frequently respond to people individually (either phone or email) because I usually share my own institutional experiences
(audit and other post award matters) that I’m not going to share with everyone. The people who don’t leave their email addresses and phone numbers in their signature block don’t give people an opportunity to respond privately and could miss out on some excellent
advice, so I’d recommend people include this information if they’re asking a question pertaining to a sensitive area (I’m always careful of what I put in writing as most research administrators are).
Sincerely,

I think people may be more comfortable sharing sensitive information offline. No harm in giving people the option. Sometimes you don't want to email 5,000 people. Running, ducking...

I agree. I think we end up with far more emails that aren’t useful because we end up with lots of “send it to me too” emails. And, as Patty said, I find seeing
everyone’s processes and ideas to be very helpful.

Good Morning!
It’s always been a pet peeve of mine when someone says to reply offline. If you have a response, chances are that more than one person would like to see your
answer (me!), and moving the conversation off-line seems to defeat the purpose of this listserv—sharing!
Also, many individuals responding saying “send it to me too”, clutters up the listserv where we could be having more of a conversation on a given topic.
My thoughts!
Patty

Good afternoon,
After seeing a few “reply to me offline” postings recently, it seems that this deprives the group of the benefit of the answers that the membership may be interested
in seeing. On the other hand, if you are answering a question and offering to provide a checklist, link, reference, tool or other useful tidbit, perhaps you can provide your business email to which requests can be directed (instead of the “please send it
to me too!” listserv posts).
I just had a few minutes between proposals and thought I’d toss this out to the listserv universe. Thoughts?
J
Happy Monday!
