The Sponsored Research Development department at San Diego State University Research Foundation has a job opening for a development specialist (pre-award).
The Development Specialist (DS) is responsible for assisting faculty with pre-award services, particularly with the development and submission of proposals for research, educational, and other sponsored projects. Responsibilities include interpreting guidelines for funding opportunities and applying these in proposal development & submission; developing and revising budgets for proposals using a variety of regulations, terms and conditions; assisting faculty with obtaining approvals for proposal submissions; advising and providing guidance to faculty in proposal development and submission procedures; and maintaining proposal information once submitted to agencies and to take action when necessary. The position has direct responsibility of an assigned workload, to include a variety of proposal submissions to several sponsor agencies. Job responsibilities will focus on technical and analytical aspects of the job, including fiscal and regulatory compliance issues. The DS will work on a variety of issues where analysis of data or solutions requires an evaluation of intangible factors, and exercising judgment in developing methods and evaluating criteria for achieved results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of progressively responsible experience in pre-award, research administration, or related field
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience using electronic research administration and submission systems
Previous experience working in research administration in pre-or post-award capacity
Previous experience with post-award processes
Previous experience with InfoEd, Banner, Nolijweb (or other related electronic systems)
