Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
1. Serves as the institution’s central point person for post-award issues; in particular, provides support and back-up to the negotiation of all grants/contracts with the sponsoring agency and university legal counsel
2. Responsible for drafting and issuing subcontracts and independent consulting agreements and subrecipient monitoring
3. Supervises grant officers
4. Develops materials for and participates in annual Single Audit (formerly known as A-133) review and all mandated internal audits, working with the university controller, and Office of Contracts and Grants Accounting
5. Manages politically sensitive/complex awards
6. Serves as the backup Central Effort Administrator with respect to the Effort Certification Reporting Technology (ECRT) system
7. Assists Director with office’s daily operation and management; oversees the performance of pre- and post-award administration and management of externally funded grants and contracts for basic and applied research, training, and community service projects/programs within the University
8. Assists the Director with the development of the office’s annual, strategic, and tactical plans
9. Provides support to and backup for preparation and distribution of all monthly reports and responds to requests for ad hoc reports or requests for other information for senior management, deans, directors, department heads
10. Oversees review and approval of all grant-related and contract-related check requests, purchase orders, and travel expenses
11. Develops and presents information related to OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) to university faculty and staff; heavily involved in updating policies and procedures
