Clinical Trial Pre-Award Specialist
Principal duties
As a member of the Clinical Research Finance Office of the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the Clinical Trials Pre-Award Specialist's (Administrative Program Specialist) primary responsibilities will be to analyze research protocols for clinical procedures to ensure comprehensiveness and accuracy of complex clinical research budgets, preparation of research budgets, negotiation with research sponsors regarding budgetary issues and routing of contract documents through appropriate channels. In order to prepare accurate and compliant budgets, the applicant must be able to understand complex research protocols from a variety of disease related areas, as well as having detailed knowledge of how UW Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) and UW Medical Foundation (UWMF) charges apply to clinical research budgets. This position must also be able to understand and apply the intricate university, state, and federal regulations that govern clinical research, and apply current issues in the ethical conduct of clinical research, particularly in the area of financial compliance.
Degree and area of specialization:
BA/BS
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
o Experience in a medical, research, or educational setting strongly desired.
o Grants, contracts, and clinical trials experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
o Knowledge of federal rules and regulations and sponsor requirements relating to research grants and contracts, specifically clinical trials preferred.
