Check out info on the NIH blog abut calculating CM.

The Q&A at the bottom of the blog isn’t exactly your question but it might help in any case.

Subject: [RESADM-L] grad student person month NIH application

I am looking for information on person  months for graduate students on an NIH application.

The most the graduate student can work is .50 FTE which would calculate to 6 calendar months. However it has been suggested to me that on the NIH application we should note 12 calendar months for the graduate student to indicate to NIH that the student is working “full time” for a student. The reason behind this is I’ve been told is so that NIH will not assume 6 calendar months = half time and then cut the tuition by half.

I haven’t yet found any instructions from NIH regarding this and am wondering if anyone out there can enlighten me?

Thanks,
