Chris—

There are similar programs for faculty (and students) at tribal colleges (under the TCUP program, NSF 14-572, http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5483) and historically black colleges and universities (under the HBCU-UP program, NSF 14-513, http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5481; and the CREST program, NSF 14-565, http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=6668).

NSF also welcomes research collaborations between PUIs, minority-serving institutions, and research I institutions, which can happen through any of the regular NSF calls.

Specifically for equipment, there’s also the Major Research Instrumentation program (NSF 15-504, http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5260), which is open to any institution of higher education. As a plus, non-Ph.D.-granting institutions can request instruments that are under $100,000 in total cost, and they are also not subject to the mandatory 30% cost-share.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Funding for research a PUIs

I ran across this opportunity in Kwest (http://kwest.moderas.org/) and wondered if if was widely known that NSF is providing funding that could be used to enhance your research infrastructure or at least it appears so based on the synopsis

"The Research in Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) and Research Opportunity Awards (ROA) funding opportunities support research by faculty members at predominantly undergraduate institutions (PUIs).  RUI proposals support PUI faculty in research that engages them in their professional field(s), builds capacity for research at their home institution, and supports the integration of research and undergraduate education. ROAs similarly support PUI faculty research, but these awards typically allow faculty to work as visiting scientists at research-intensive organizations where they collaborate with other NSF-supported investigators."

The link to the opportunity is http://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf14579

We ran across this because someone was submitting a grant application to NIH on a similar opportunity (which is currently closed  to more applications I believe) to fund their FastTrak (http://moderas.org/FastTrak) implementation as part of their proposal.

Happy hunting!
