Molly:
K08 awards are part of that special group of NIH mechanisms that have very specific RCR requirements – including that they get at least 8 hours of “face time.” They could certainly watch the films, but that would
not count towards the live classroom component.
If there was a way for them to attend an alternative live session on a research ethics/integrity topic that would be better. Additionally, an interactive live session where there is dialogue and discussion is
even more highly valued.
Glad to discuss in more detail offline.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Ethics Training
Hey group –
We have three PIs with K08 awards at our institution, all of whom are spread thin with research and clinic time. As part of the K08 award requirements, we have mandatory monthly ethics training seminars for all staff. Lately, we’ve been
running into scheduling conflicts that make it nearly impossible for all three of these K08 awardees to attend the ethics seminars.
How does your institution ensure that all necessary PIs are meeting the training requirements? Do you think it’s acceptable to film the ethics seminars and allow staff members to watch when they have the time?
Please advise J
