Over the last 20 years, annual research funding to the University of Florida has grown more than 300 percent, placing UF firmly among the top 20 public research institutions nationally.  In 2012, UF had over $644 million in Sponsored Research Funding with the goal of reaching $1 billion through its UF Rising Preeminence Plan.

With 16 colleges on our Gainesville campus and dozens of research facilities around the state, UF is uniquely equipped to pursue effective interdisciplinary research at the boundaries of scientific disciplines. The UF Office of Research provides the institutional leadership and infrastructure necessary for the research enterprise to achieve excellence in creating new fundamental knowledge and technological breakthroughs, in contributing to the educational mission of the institution, and in translating research to relevance.  This is exemplified by our $26 million in income from technology licensing.
