What percentage, if any, of a dean’s salary is appropriate to budget for a research proposal? We anticipate that this work will take devoted effort in addition to normal dean work, including PhD student advising. What is the standard/accepted practice on this? Can you charge a dean/PhD advisor’s time to a grant if the research being done by the PhD students is funded research? Or is that work part of their normal workload?
Thanks.
